The
"Keluri" from Borneo belongs to the "Iban" poeple in Sarawak.
This reed mouthorgan is tuned in a pentatonic scale and not so
easy to play, as the finger holes are in awkward positions.
Mouthorgans are not as widespread as in mainland SE-Asia, but still
models like this or the "Sompoton" know rich song traditions.
The longest tube always sounds as a drone, while the player holds the
instruments with both hands and breathes in and out.
Changing pitch with the thumb at the lower end is not possible as the
tubes end in the gourd. Sometimes additional smaller gourds will be
attached to the end of the tubes to increase volume.
